Duke: Grad Student With Packed Class Schedule
"PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at Duke. Between lab work, classes, and teaching, couldn't afford to waste 3 hours at DMV. Checked South Roxboro—79 days out. Chapel Hill Express—68 days. With thesis defense in 2 months, needed license for conference travel. Got alert 2 days later for 8am Chapel Hill slot. In and out in 35 minutes. Saved my research schedule."
— Sarah K., Duke PhD student (Relocated from CA for research program)
⚠️ The Durham Appointment Crisis
Durham's 302,000 residents + 17,000+ Duke students + 50,000+ Research Triangle Park workers = massive DMV demand. Raleigh and Charlotte face similar backlogs, but Durham's college population creates unique timing spikes.
Current wait times: South Roxboro 65-75 days, Chapel Hill Express 55-65 days. Slots disappear in 2-5 minutes when they open.
Without automated monitoring, you'd need to check DMV websites 40+ times per day across multiple locations to have a chance at catching cancellations.
